Vaporesso consistently makes buyers happy with good stuff. Every 2 or 3 months there are new devices, and today I got one of these products — Vaporesso Luxe 220w!
Don't be anxious, though it`s Luxe, it costs only 37$.
Are you interested? Then what are we waiting for? Let`s go forward to read the review!
Firstly, let`s take a close look at the package.
The mod is packaged in a black box, which was wrapped in transparent cellophane. By the way, the color of the box depends on the color of the mod itself!
At the front, there is a logo "Luxe" and the image of the box mod. On the sides, there are Vaporesso logo and icons with a brief description of the advantages of the device.
On the reverse side, there is a lot of text — full description with specifications, equipment, information about the manufacturer, and all sorts of logos-certificates and what not.
But one thing is missing — code check for originality. No stickers or stretch codes to make sure the product is original.
Personally, I highly doubt that someone will forge such a device, so I don`t think you should worry about it.
U N P A C K I N G !
Inside there is a box mod laid in a trough.
Oh yeah.
On the box mod, of course, there was a transport protective film (somewhat crooked, but OK) on both sides — on the display and on the battery cover.
For those who like to peel off the films, I especially captured this process on camera.
Exciting, isn't it?
And what`s inside the box?
That`s what: mod, short USB cable in a braid, a small envelope with a warranty card and user manual written in many languages.
Length micro USB cable — 50cm. "Quick Charge" is engraved on the tip. It is true — the cable can fast charge, and the data rate is at a level (maybe for someone it could be important).
In our case, the color option is Black, but there are 6 more
(from left to right: Bronze, Iris, Silver, Rainbow, Green Ape, Red), which differ from each other by the drawings on the cover and the color of the case.
Plus, a Zophie Vapes announced the imminent release of two new colors, the so-called "Luxe ZV Limited Edition".
Expected date of start of sales — 18.12.2018!
Appearance and features!
In appearance, the device reminds me of clamshell phones. In particular, Samsung had a model GT-E1272, and the creation of Vaporesso is very similar to it.
If you compare it with the mods of other companies, it is somewhat similar to the Smok X-Priv 225w and Rincoe Manto 228w.
The frame of the body is made of thick metal and painted in black matt "asphalt", the front and the back panels are completely made of plastic under the "glass".
Total buttons number is 4. Three of them (select button, + and -) are fully touch-sensitive, they have a bright white backlight. They are located exactly under the display and represent the letter "V" (choice), and two points (left -, right +). The sensor responds only to a finger touch.
Also, it has a vibration output when you press the touch keys, but I`ll tell you more about it a little later.
The only hardware button is "Fire". It is made in a metal style (but I`m not sure), painted in the color of the body and there is a mark in the form of a point. The keystroke is short, with a nice-sounding click.
Screen size is 2 inches, colored TFT. The viewing angles are great — from all angles, nothing fades and nothing gets dark. There are a couple of highlights on the top and side, but it is forgivable, and you could notice them only in the dark.
The display is bright, and even at 40% brightness, everything is perfectly visible in daylight.
On the front, under the buttons, there is a micro USB port so you can charge and update your device.
The connector is located in the center. It`s steel, slightly sticking out, with a diameter of about 22.2 mm. Due to the wide base of the box mod, all the RDA and RTA up to 25mm look great, levitation is not observed.
The overall dimensions of the device are 90x47 and 8x29.5 mm.
Despite the fairly conventional size, mod weighs a lot - as much as 280 grams with two batteries Sony VTC 6 format 18650.
The cover of the battery compartment is held by three powerful magnets (two round on the top and one long on the bottom), and the first opening could be hard.
Inside the cover, there is a sticker with a warning, tips, and links to company resources.
Although the surface there was metal, everything inside is made of ordinary black plastic. The upper contacts are spring-loaded, the polarity is marked, and on top of the plastic inscription "Vaporesso Omni Board 4.0". is engraved.
It's funny, but the board is different, I`ll speak about it later.
Personally, I like the design of this device. It lies conveniently in a hand, metal is cold and the haptic feedback is hilarious. But I don't like glossy plastic parts that reflect everything, collect footprints and quickly get scratched, that is not quite good.
Let's talk about the board and specifications!
Actually, despite the text on the package, in the instructions, on the website, and even inside the box mod — it is not Omni Board 4.0, but a newer, 4.2 version.
(picture of Omni board 4.0 interface)
I haven`t managed to find the list of changes and differences between 4.2 and 4.0, but at least a complete redesign of the interface was made.
Main characteristics of the board:
— Omni Board 4.2 Chipset
— Power: 5 – 220 W
— Resistance support: 0.03-5 Ohm
— Temperature limit — from 200 to 600 °F (100 – 300 ℃)
— Powered by two high-current 18650 batteries
— Updated software
— 2.5 A Quick Charge support
— "Fire" response time: 0.001 s
— High level of protection
Now let's talk about the operating modes of Omni Board 4.2
The menu has a great variety of settings and modes.
The available choices are Arivett (VW) Super Player (SP), Thermal Monitoring (TCR), VV, Mode Curves (CC) and Bypass (BP). There is a separate menu for internal settings of each mode (DIY) and General settings mode (Set).
The device is switched on by pressing the "Fire" button five times, as standard. Short vibration signals successful inclusion, just like old cell phones. Cute!
After switching on we go to the main screen, in default it is a variation with the preset "Normal". The main screen contains the following information: battery indicator in the upper left corner, the current time in the right and smart and Auto On/Off indicators.
At the bottom, there are lines of the current resistance, voltage, the counter of the number of puffs, the duration of the last and current (in the process of soaring) tightening, as well as an indicator of the lock touch buttons.
Tightening time is cut-off — 10 seconds. Cannot be increased.
To get to the menu, you need to unlock the touch keys. It`s quite simple — press the "Fire" button 3 times. If you do not touch the keys for 10 seconds, they will be locked automatically.
Any press of the "Fire" button also blocks the touch buttons, so don`t be afraid that the mod will react to pressing the screen.
So, when the touch keys are unlocked, the menu is accessed by holding the middle button (V), or by a quick triple touch.
Results and general impressions of the device!
Vaporesso succeeded to make a decent and competitive device with its own chips and features, but not without some drawbacks.
For example, after a month of usage, there were small scratches on the plastic, and the bottom of the frame was slightly rubbed because of the movements on the table.
I haven`t got any claims on board work, it shows stable and smooth operation without glitches and doesn`t lie about the resistance or capacity. Excessive heat charge is also not seen.
Finally, it's time to count the pros and cons!
Pros:
— Good board, with a lot of settings and a ton of profiles
— Bright display with intuitive interface
— Ergonomic design and nice appearance
— A large number of colors for different preferences
— Nice price — 37$!
Cons:
— Excessive glossiness
— Staining and scratch, not resistant surface, no pre-installed or separately sold the protective film
— Strong heating of the device when charging via micro USB
Conclusion.
